January 19th marked another milestone in our school's development.  We are moving towards a "University System" as it is commonly referred to here in Arabia because such a system uncommon in middle and high schools here.  The goal of this system is to increase "student choice".  Our 11th Grade and 12th Grade students currently choose between Engineering, Business, or Medical tracks for 3 courses.  That means students go to different classes than their classmates depending on their choice.  This allows them to explore subjects that they are passionate about and find out what subjects they like or don't care for BEFORE they graduate and go to university.

Changes include:

1. Grades 6-12 lockers are in the hallway for students to access books between classes.
2. Each Teacher has an assigned classroom where they teach all day.  The Teacher determines the arrangement of the desks and ensure all technology is working and maintained.
3. Teachers assign students seats according to their academic and behavior.
4. Period timings were increased from 45 to 90 minutes to allow multiple learning activities for the students and decrease the time wasted in transition between classes.
5. Students now have a map of their school showing where each teacher's classroom is.  They need this map to guide them as they move through the school day from teacher to teacher.

This system is based on American schools that typically begin students moving from class to class from 7th grade and begin giving students choice for elective courses from 9th grade.  Students move throughout the school because they are taking different classes than their classmates according to their choice from 9th grade.

  : التغييرات تشمل

  .وجود خزانات من الصف 6 الى 12 في الرواق للطلاب لوضع الكتب -
  
  كل معلم لديه فصل مخصص حيث يقوم بالتدريس فيه طوال اليوم و -
  .و كل طالب يمتلك خريطة يوضح فيها مكان وجود صف لكل معلم
  
  . يحدد المعلم ترتيب الأماكن ويضمن أن كل التكنولوجيا وصيانتها تعمل داخل الصف -
  
  زيادة وقت الحصة من 45 دقيقة الى 90 دقيقة للسماح بأنشطة تعليمية متعددة للطلاب -
  . وتقليل الوقت الضائع في الإنتقال بين الفصول الدراسية
